What is digital leadership? A suggestion of the definition

Öz

When the literature is examined, it is seen that what the concept of digital leadership is and how it should be understood is not clearly understood and there is no consensus on the definition of the concept. From this point of view, in this study, it is aimed to form a definition of the concept of digital leadership by examining the studies on digital leadership, which is a new concept. Basic qualitative research was used in the research. The research is limited to English studies in the international literature on digital leadership between 2012 and 2020, which have a clear definition of the concept in the studies. Document analysis was used as a data collection tool in the research. As a result of scanning, 13 studies were reached in accordance with the criteria determined. Three of these are books, one of them is a congress paper, two of them are research reports, and seven of them are articles. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. Definitions of digital leadership were gathered under themes of change, using technology, and innovation. In the definitions under the theme of change, the codes of change, transformation and vision creation were emphasized. Code concepts of using digital tools, using technology, managing technology under the theme of using technology; under the theme of innovation, the concepts of thinking differently, an innovation culture and focusing on innovation were emphasized. In line with the findings, a definition of the concept of digital leadership has been suggested.

Dijital Liderlik Nedir? Bir Tanım Önerisi

Öz

Alanyazın incelendiğinde dijital liderlik kavramının ne olduğu ve nasıl anlaşılması gerektiği konusunun açık bir şekilde anlaşılamadığı ve kavramın tanımına ilişkin bir fikir birliği oluşmadığı görülmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmada yeni bir kavram olan dijital liderlik ile ilgili çalışmaların incelenerek dijital liderlik kavramına ilişkin bir tanım ortaya koyulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada temel nitel araştırma kullanılmıştır. Araştırma 2012– 2020 yılları arasında dijital liderlik ile ilgili olarak uluslararası alanyazında yer alan ve içinde kavrama ilişkin açık bir tanım bulunan İngilizce çalışmalarla sınırlıdır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Tarama sonunda belirlenen ölçütlere uygun olarak 13 çalışmaya ulaşılmıştır. Bunlardan üçü kitap, biri kongre bildirisi, ikisi araştırma raporu ve yedisi makaledir. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Dijital liderlik ile ilgili yapılan tanımlar değişim, teknolojiyi kullanabilme ve yenilikçilik temaları altında toplanmıştır. Değişim teması altında yer alan tanımlarda değişim, dönüşüm ve vizyon oluşturma kod kavramları ön plana çıkmıştır. Teknolojiyi kullanabilme teması altında dijital araçları kullanma, teknolojiyi kullanma, teknolojiyi yönetebilme kod kavramları; yenilikçilik teması altında ise farklı düşünme, yenilik kültürü ve yeniliğe odaklanma kod kavramları vurgulanmıştır. Bulgular doğrultusunda dijital liderlik kavramına ilişkin tanım önerilmiştir.
