Investigation of Distance Education Satisfaction Levels of Students Receiving Sports Education / Spor Eğitimi Alan Öğrencilerin Uzaktan Eğitim Memnuniyet Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Today, with the opportunities provided by technology, although the teacher and the student are in different physical environments, education-teaching processes can be carried out remotely through various mass media. Distance education, which is defined as the education-teaching-learning process that teachers and students in different physical environments continue through communication technologies and has been used for many years, has been used much more widely in the world, especially after the COVID-19 epidemic. In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey and the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş and Hatay on 06.02.2023, education was carried out at universities with distance education. For this reason, determining the distance education satisfaction of students has a very important place in achieving educational goals. Because it is known that there is a positive relationship between satisfaction and academic achievement. This study was mainly carried out for two purposes. The first aim of the study is to determine the satisfaction level of distance education students who receive sports education. The second aim of the study is to determine the differences in the distance education satisfaction levels of the students who receive sports education according to the variables of gender, type of education, department, grade, class, income, residence and parental graduation level. The study was designed with the survey model, which is one of the quantitative methods, which is frequently used. While the population consisted of 696 students studying sports at a university in the Eastern Anatolia Region, the sample consisted of 303 randomly selected students. Research data were collected with the "Distance Education Satisfaction Scale of University Students" and the "Demographic Information Request Form" developed by the researcher within the scope of this study. It was determined that the data did not meet the normal distribution conditions and therefore nonparametric techniques should be used in the data analysis process. As a result of the study, it was determined that the students who received sports education were generally satisfied with distance education at a moderate level. In addition, it has been determined that there is a difference between the distance education satisfaction levels of the students who receive sports education and the variables of gender, department, grade, income and parental graduation level. As a result of the study, various suggestions were presented.

Abstract

Günümüzde teknolojinin sağlamış olduğu imkânlarla öğretmen ile öğrencinin farklı fiziksel ortamlarda olmalarına rağmen çeşitli kitle iletişim araçları vasıtasıyla eğitim-öğretim süreçleri uzaktan yürütülebilmektedir. Farklı fiziksel ortamlarda bulunan öğretmen ve öğrencinin iletişim teknolojileri vasıtasıyla sürdürdükleri eğitim-öğretim-öğrenme süreci olarak tanımlanan ve uzun yıllardır kullanılagelmekte olan uzaktan eğitim, Dünya’da özellikle COVID-19 salgını sonrasında çok daha yaygın bir şekilde kullanılmıştır. Bunun yanında Türkiye’de COVID-19 pandemisi ve 06.02.2023 tarihli Kahramanmaraş ve Hatay merkezli depremler nedeniyle üniversitelerde eğitim-öğretim uzaktan eğitim ile yürütülmüştür. Bu nedenle öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim memnuniyetlerinin belirlenmesi eğitsel hedeflere ulaşılmasında oldukça önemli bir yere sahiptir. Çünkü memnuniyet ile akademik başarı arasında pozitif yönlü bir ilişki olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu çalışma temelde iki amaç üzerine yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın birinci amacı spor eğitimi alan öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim memnuniyet düzeylerinin tespit edilmesidir. Çalışmanın ikinci amacı ise spor eğitimi alan öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim memnuniyet düzeylerinin cinsiyet, öğretim türü, bölüm, not, sınıf, gelir, ikamet ve anne-baba mezuniyet seviyesi değişkenlerine göre fark durumlarının belirlenmesidir. Çalışma nicel yöntemlerden sıklıkla kullanılan tarama modeli ile dizayn edilmiştir. Evren Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi’ndeki bir üniversitede spor eğitimi alan 696 öğrenciden oluşurken örneklem ise rastgele seçilen 303 öğrenciden meydana gelmiştir. Araştırma verileri “Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Uzaktan Eğitim Memnuniyeti Ölçeği” ve bu çalışma kapsamında araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “Demografik Bilgi Talep Formu” ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin normal dağılım koşullarını sağlamadığı ve dolayısıyla veri analizi sürecinde nonparametrik tekniklerden yararlanılması gerektiği belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda spor eğitimi alan öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitimden genel olarak orta düzeyde memnuniyet duydukları belirlenmiştir. Bunun yanında spor eğitimi alan öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim memnuniyet düzeyleri ile cinsiyet, bölüm, not, gelir ve anne-baba mezuniyet düzeyi değişkenleri arasında fark olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda çeşitli öneriler sunulmuştur.
