Evaluation of Student Activity Books Used within the Scope of Education Program in Primary Schools According to Teachers' Views / İlkokullarda Yetiştirme Programı (İYEP) Kapsamında Kullanılan Öğrenci Etkinlik Kitaplarının Öğretmen Görüşlerine Göre Değerlendirilmesi
Abstract
The IYEP course, which was started to be implemented for the first time in our country in the 2018-2019 academic year; It is a training program that aims to increase the success level of primary school students who are less successful in Turkish and mathematics lessons than their peers. In our education system, the functionality of the textbooks used as teaching materials plays an extremely important role in reaching the goals and skills determined in the teaching process of individuals. In this study, it is aimed to determine the opinions of the classroom teachers who are the program implementers about all the dimensions (Content, Assessment and Evaluation, Learning and Teaching) of the student activity books used in the IYEP courses and to provide feedback to all stakeholders involved in the preparation of the program. The study group of this research consists of 20 classroom teachers working in the Ministry of National Education in 7 different primary schools in the city center of Malatya in the 2021-2022 academic year. Phenomenology design was used in accordance with the nature of the research. In order to obtain the research data, a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used. Classroom teachers' IEP activity books; external features, content ( language, style, intelligibility, fluency ),It has been tried to determine his views on many issues such as its suitability for 3 basic language skills (Reading, Writing and Oral communication) and its suitability for the curriculum. The obtained interview findings were analyzed by transferring them to the MAXQDA 2020 qualitative analysis program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the primary school teachers generally thought that it is necessary to enrich the texts and activities in the İYEP book in terms of external and content features and the measurement and evaluation activities should be compatible with the achievements, and finally they reflected positive views about the activity books in terms of suitability for the student's level.
