Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine how the lifelong learning tendencies of teacher candidates and their satisfaction with the choice of teaching profession predict their desire for career orientation and career development. The research was carried out by descriptive and relational scanning methods. The sample of the study consisted of 471 teacher candidates. In the study, data were obtained from Demographic Information Form, Lifelong Learning Tendencies Scale, the Scale of Satisfaction with the Choice, and Professional Orientation and Career Development Desires Scales. According to the results of the research, it was concluded that the lifelong learning tendencies of the teacher candidates are at a moderate level, while their satisfaction with the choice of teaching profession and their desire for professional orientation and career development are at a high level. At these levels, differences were found according to the variables of gender and grade level. In addition, in the study, it was concluded that the lifelong learning tendencies of the teacher candidates and their satisfaction with the choice statistically significantly predicted their professional orientation and career development desires.
