Motivation Scale for Learning Strategies with Collaborative Play; Adaptation to Turkish, Validity and Reliability Study / İşbirliğine Dayalı Oyunla Öğrenme Stratejileri İçin Motivasyon Ölçeği; Türkçeye Uyarlama, Geçerlilik ve Güvenilirlik Çalışması
Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to adapt the motivation scale for learning strategies with collaborative play into Turkish and to conduct a study of validity and reliability for it. A scale adaptation study has been designed by the using the survey model in the research in line with this purpose. The study uses a scale developed by Manzano-León et al (2021), which translates into Turkish as the "Motivation Scale for Learning Strategies with Collaborative Play". The scale consists of four sub-dimensions: "task motivation", "learning",” “teamwork” and "flow". The scale, whose original form consisted of 16 items and was prepared in a likert type of five, was applied in Spain. Necessary work and use permits have been obtained to adapt the scale in other languages and cultures. To ensure that the original meaning of the scale matched with the Turkish expressions, the re-translation method was used. Purposeful sampling method has been used in order to determine the study group of the research. A total of 1100 volunteers participated in the study conducted in Turkey, including 788 middle and high school students (age average: 14.04±2.26) and 312 university students (age average: 21.97±3.56). Data were evaluated separately for both groups. (1.middle school-high school students, 2.college students). As a result of the analysis, a measurement tool consisting of 15 items and four sub-dimensions was obtained. According to the compliance index values obtained as a result of DFA, it was also observed that the scale revealed a well-accommodating structure in both groups. When the Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients of the scale were examined, it was revealed that all values were above 0.70 The results show that the Turkish form of the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for both groups.
