Analysis of Geography Questions in Teaching Subject Knowledge Exams in Türkiye According to Bloom's Taxonomy / Türkiye’de Öğretmenlik Alan Bilgisi Sınavlarında Yer Alan Coğrafya Sorularının Bloom Taksonomisine Göre Analizi
Abstract
How is the distribution of the Geography questions in the Science, Classroom and Social Studies Teaching Content Knowledge Test in KPSSÖABT conducted in 2013-2021 according to the renewed Bloom taxonomy in the dimension of knowledge and cognitive processes? The answer to the question has been sought. While 50 field questions were asked in 2013-2019 in the exams on teaching field knowledge belonging to different disciplines, the number of field exam questions has been increased to 75 as of 2019. The scanning method was preferred as the method in the analysis of the geography questions asked in the teaching field knowledge exams in Turkey for the renewed Bloom taxonomy. The data in the study were obtained by document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The data used in the research consists of 175 geography questions published on its own website by ÖSYM, which is included in the Science, Classroom and Social Studies teaching field knowledge test. 43 questions in Science Teaching, 50 questions in Classroom Teaching and 82 questions in Social Studies Teaching, which were asked in the field exams, were transferred to the table expressing the structure of the knowledge dimension in the renewed Bloom taxonomy created by Krathwohl and analyzed.In order to ensure the validity and reliability of the research among the coders, the opinions of three field experts and two experts in the field of measurement and evaluation were taken. When the geography questions prepared in the field exams of different disciplines in KPSS between 2013-2021 are evaluated according to the knowledge dimension and cognitive process dimension of the renewed Bloom taxonomy; It is seen that almost all of the questions measure the lowest steps of the cognitive process dimension. In this context, it has been determined that the geography questions asked in the field exams are not prepared to measure metacognitive thinking skills.
