Determining Social Acceptance Levels of Primary Students with Special Needs Participating in Inclusion Practices / Kaynaştırma Uygulamalarına Katılan Özel Gereksinimli İlkokul Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Kabul Düzeylerinin Belirlenmesi

The aim of the present study was to determine social acceptance levels of primary students with special needs in inclusive education. The study group consists of 3rd and 4th grade students attending Ressam İbrahim Çallı Primary school in Pamukkale District of the city of Denizli.The data was collected using the “Social Acceptance Scale” developed by Şahbaz and Arslan (2012) to measure the social acceptance of students with special needs by normally developing students. The data obtained from the study was analysed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 program. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistical methods (numbers, percentages, standard deviation). In data analysis, independent samples t-test was applied for the means of two groups to compare quantitative data when the assumption of normal distribution was met; and Mann Whitney U test was selected for the non-normally distributed data. In addition, Kruskal Wallis H test was employed when comparing more than two group means. Multiple comparisons test was performed to determine the groups with differences as a result of the analyses. It was found as a result of the study that social acceptance of individuals with special needs varied by gender, and epecailly male students had higher levels of social acceptance in the peer attitude sub-scale. Moreover, it was seen that the presence of an individual with special needs in the child’s family affected his social acceptance of peers with special needs positively.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, kaynaştırma (bütünleştirme) uygulamalarına katılan özel gereksinimli ilkokul öğrencilerinin sosyal kabul düzeylerini belirlemektir. Bu araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Denizli ili Pamukkale ilçesinde bulunan Ressam İbrahim Çallı İlkokulu’nda öğrenim gören 3. ve 4.sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Şahbaz ve Arslan (2012) tarafından geliştirilen özel gereksinimli öğrencilerin normal gelişim gösteren öğrenciler tarafından sosyal kabulünü ölçen “Sosyal Kabul Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 25.0 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Verileri değerlendirilirken tanımlayıcı istatistiksel metotları (sayı, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde normal dağılım varsayımının sağlandığı durumlarda niceliksel verilerin karşılaştırılması için iki grup ortalaması için bağımsız örneklem t testi; normal dağılım göstermeyen veriler için Mann Whitney U testi tercih edilmiştir. Ayrıca ikiden fazla grup ortalaması karşılaştırması için Kruskal Wallis H testi kullanılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda fark olan grupların tespiti için çoklu karşılaştırma testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; özel gereksinimli bireylerin sosyal kabulünün cinsiyet değişkenine göre farklılık gösterdiği, özellikle erkek öğrencilerin akran tutumu alt boyutunda sosyal kabul düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca çocuğun ailesinde özel gereksinimli birey olma durumu özel gereksinimi olan akranlarını sosyal kabulünü olumlu etkilediği görülmüştür.
