Investigation of the Emotional Abuse Perceived by High School Students and Their Beliefs in a Just World / Ortaöğretim Öğrencilerinin Algıladıkları Duygusal İstismar İle Adil Dünya İnançları Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi
Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate of the emotional abuse perceived by high school students and their beliefs in a just World. In the research, a relational model which obtains information through comparison from quantitative models has been used. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 539 students from 6 different high schools studying at the secondary education level in a medium-sized city center in the Central Anatolia Region in the 2018-2019 academic year. “Personal Information Form”, “Psychological Maltreatment Questionnaire” and “Belief in a Just World Scale” were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 19.0 software. According to the results of the study, a weak negative meaningful relationship is seen between the Psychological Maltreatment Questionnaire and the Belief in a Just World Scale. A negative meaningful relationship is seen between the Psychological Maltreatment Questionnaire and the subscales of General Belief in a Just World and Personal Belief in a Just World of the Belief in a Just World Scale. A negative meaningful relationship is seen between the Belief in a Just World Scale and the subscales of Terrorising, Denying Emotional Reaction, Inclining to Crime and Refusal/Isolation of the Psychological Maltreatment Questionnaire. A negative meaningful relationship is seen between the sub-scales of Terrorising, Denying Emotional Reaction and Refusal/Isolation of the Psychological Maltreatment Questionnaire and the subscales of General Belief in a Just World and Personal Belief in a Just World of the Belief in a Just World Scale. A negative meaningful relationship is seen between the sub-scale of Inclining to Crime of the Psychological Maltreatment Questionnaire and the subscale of Personal Belief in a Just World of the Belief in a Just World Scale. As the level of emotional abuse perceived by high school students increases, the level of belief in a just world decreases.
