Examination of Dysfunctional Attitudes of University Students
Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the dysfunctional attitudes of university students in terms of various variables. 1037 university students participated in this research which used general survey design. Data collected through “Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale” developed by Weismann and Beck (1978) and adapted to Turkish by Sahin and Sahin (1992) was analyzed with SPSS 25 package program. As a result of the research, it was found that there was no significant difference between the dysfunctional attitudes of university students in terms of class, age, settlement, maternal education status, father's educational status and economic status, whereas it was determined that male university students had higher dysfunctional attitudes than females. In the sub-dimension of perfectionism, it was determined that students who had authoritarian parents had higher dysfunctional attitudes than those with democratic parents.
