The Effect of Mathematical Pattern Workshops Constructed with Material Aided Station Technique in Preschool Education on Children's Visual Perception Skills / Okul Öncesi Eğitimde Materyal Destekli İstasyon Tekniği ile Yapılandırılmış Matematiksel Örüntü Atölye Çalışmalarının Çocukların Görsel Algılama Becerilerine Etkisi
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of applying the station technique together with structured materials in mathematical pattern workshops on pre-school children's visual perception skills and to evaluate them together with the opinions of teachers and parents. A quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used in the research conducted in accordance with the mixed research design. The application was continued for 16 hours in a four-week period. The study group of the research consists of 29 children (13 girls-16 boys) who continue their education in two branches in a kindergarten in Sivas city center in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Mathematical pattern training, which was planned in accordance with the station technique in the experimental group of the research, was applied to the existing learning method in the control group. The data of the study were obtained by applying the "Visual Perception Scale" and a semi-structured interview form. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, dependent groups t-test, independent groups t-test, content and descriptive analysis were used. In the quantitative findings of the research; it was determined that there was no significant difference between the pretest scores of the research groups from the scale, and there was a significant difference between the posttest scores in favor of the experimental group. It was observed that there was a significant difference between the pretest-posttest scores of the research groups in favor of the posttest. In the qualitative findings of the research; it has been found that there are positive opinions about the implementation process and that it supports different development areas and the achievement of various gains.
