Correlation between Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction in Educational Organizations: A Meta Analysis / Eğitim Örgütlerinde Örgütsel Bağlılık ve İş Doyumu İlişkisi: Bir Meta Analiz Çalışması

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to examine the correlation between organizational commitment and job satisfaction in educational organizations using the meta-analysis method. Furthermore, the presence of moderator variables that might affect organizational commitment and job satisfaction in educational organizations was also investigated. For these purposes, the studies that were consistent with the inclusion criteria were determined. Thus, a meta-analysis of 11 studies on the correlation between organizational commitment and job satisfaction in Turkish educational organizations that contained the sample size and Pearson's correlation coefficient (r) value required for meta-analysis and published between 2008-2016 was conducted. In the study, CMA 3.0 software was used to obtain effect size, publication bias, heterogeneity and significance findings. In the study conducted with the random effects model, it was determined that the effect size between organizational commitment and job satisfaction in educational organizations was 0.525, a moderate and positive value. The employment status of the educational organization employees (whether they worked for public or private sectors) played a moderating role in organizational commitment and job satisfaction; it was found that the correlation between organizational commitment and job satisfaction was higher in private sector employees when compared to public sector employees. Furthermore, it was also determined that the type of publications included in the study and the grade level the teachers were instructing did not play a moderating role in the correlation between organizational commitment and job satisfaction.
