Publication Period

Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences, as a national peer-reviewed journal being listed in some international indexes, is published three times a year in April, August and December in both electronic (eISSN: 2458-8342) and printed (ISSN: 1301-3718) format.

Publication Language

Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences (AUJFES) publishes manuscripts in Turkish and English. In other words, each article to be published in a single issue should be written full text in both Turkish and English. During the article submission process at the beginning, authors submit the manuscript to the journal system in Turkish or English (only one version). Once the article is accepted, then the author is required to submit the second language version of the article.

The Editorial Board of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences attaches importance to obeying spelling and grammar rules. Articles must be written grammatically and understandably in plain language, and they must be in keeping with the literature. It’s expected that articles are free of foreign words. In case the authors use foreign words, they must also write the Turkish meaning of these words in parenthesis.

Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences does not provide any translation services. The articles accepted for publication by the Editorial Board are read by language editors (Turkish and English). The authors can be offered some revisions by the Editorial Board, reviewers or language editors. These revisions are under the responsibility of the authors.

Article and Journal Publication Policies

The original and state-of-the-art articles contributing to the field must be sent to Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences. Articles must not be published in or sent for publication to another journal.
Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences does not evaluate multiple applicants of an author at the same time.

Period of Acceptance, Rejection, and Publication of the Articles

The article rejection policy is as follows:
*Articles that cannot be included within the scope of the journal, are regarded inadequate in terms of methodology, and are missing documents that should be uploaded to the system (ethics committee decision, copyright transfer, etc.) are rejected during the preliminary review process.
* The articles rejected by two of the three reviewers and failing to provide sufficient points are rejected as a result of the peer-review process.
* Articles of authors who do not make the corrections requested by the editors (chief editor, field editor, and language editors) and do not respond to correspondence on time are rejected.
* Articles that do not comply with ethical principles are rejected.
* When it is realized that an article sent to Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences has been sent to another journal for publication, it is rejected.
In this context, the preliminary review of articles (whether documents and author details are complete, suitability in terms of format and spelling, similarity rate, review of the statistics editor, determination of the field editor) is conducted in a month under normal conditions. The referee evaluation process is finished in three months, and the reviewer suggestions are corrected by the authors in one month. Within two months, after the language (Turkish-English) editors, the editor-in-chief reads the article, final corrections are made by the authors, and the article is published in early view after layout time and taking the DOI number. So, it is envisaged that an article will be published in an average of seven months. Undoubtedly, situations such as the reviewers’ refusal to accept the article evaluation in correspondence or the delays of the authors in completing the corrections may lead to a prolongation of this period.

Sections of the Journal

Original research articles are mainly published in Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences (% 100 - % 80). Besides, two review articles at most are published in every issue.

Open Access Policy

Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences adopts sharing the knowledge, transparency, and open access as the publishing policy.
Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences promotes Budapest Open Access Initiative. So, Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences Editorial Board adopts the open access policies of Budapest Open Access Initiative (https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/read/turkish-translation/). Within this scope, we signed the declaration of the original BOAI at http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/sign-declaration-org and after the approval process Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences (JFES), Budapest Open Access Initiative website (https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/sign/) has been added.

Besides the articles published in Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License within the context of open access policies (http://dergipark.org.tr/auebfd/archive).
Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences, the publisher of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences, does not request a fee from the authors for their articles. The electronic form of the journal is free in libraries, and so the access and subscription to electronic and hard copy versions of the journal are also free of charge. Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences sends a limited number of printed versions to authors, some instructors and libraries costlessly.
All processes of the journal are free of charge. Therefore, Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences has no income; the journal continues this scientific duty with public funding. Pecuniary obligations of the articles sent to Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences are under the responsibility of the authors.

The Policy of Repudiating Sponsorships and Advertisements

The publisher of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences is Ankara University, which is a non-profit-making public establishment. One of the publishing policies of the journal is repudiating sponsorships and advertisements.
However, because all the processes from application to publication of the electronic articles are made free of charge on the electronic server, technical support is provided, and the charges of DOI numbers of the articles published are paid, TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM DERGİPARK (http://dergipark.org.tr), as a public establishment, is the public sponsor of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences.
The hard copy versions of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences are printed at Ankara University Press with public funding.

Archiving

Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences was published on the website of the Department of Library and Documentation of Ankara University (http://dergiler.ankara.edu.tr/detail.php?id=40) before it was moved to TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM DERGİPARK (http://dergipark.org.tr/auebfd) on 12.01.2018. The April 2018 issue and the latter issues of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences were published on the website of TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM DERGİPARK.
The data and full texts of the articles published in Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences are presented as PDF on the TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM DERGİPARK server. They are kept and archived without any access (LOCKSS; http://dergipark.org.tr/auebfd/lockss-manifest). Besides all articles are kept and presented as PDF on the TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM Social Sciences Database (TR INDEX).
In addition, all issues of Ankara University Journal of Faculty of Educational Sciences starting from 1968 are archived and presented as PDF at Ankara University Academic Archive Unit (https://dspace.ankara.edu.tr/xmlui/handle/20.500.12575/39706).

Back up of the Journal

Our Journal has an electronic backup on external drives as well as on Dergipark (on the host website's servers). Also, we have published copies of each issue since 1968 -the establishment of the journal.
