Frequently Asked Questions

Last Update: 28.07.2023

We will do our best to answer frequently asked questions. You can write your questions to editorkebd@gmail.com

1- I have a submission. How long does it take to be published by JTES?

It will take around 6-9 months maximum. The statistics for 2022 say that the average acceptance or rejection decision took approximately 150 days.

The oldest manuscript in the evaluation process belongs to 19 November 2022. The oldest manuscript, which has not received the result of the first round, dates back to 19 January 2023. Of course, these data are up to change, and we will do our best to update this info frequently.

2- My article was accepted. When will JTES publish it?

We order the accepted manuscripts according to their submission date as a journal policy. We do not change this order unless our editor-in-chief has to take another decision considering the benefits of our journal. However, we have not taken such an action for seven years.

3- How long does it take to have an answer when I e-mail the editorial office?

We usually answer your questions on the same day, but sometimes it might take 1-2 days if we are on leave. However, if your questions are related to the review process, we cannot answer more than you see on Dergipark Journal System. For instance, we cannot say how many reviewers responded or what their responses are until the last decision is taken for your manuscript.

4- Does the journal charge for any process under any name?

This is directly stated on the homepage, but we want to repeat that JTES is an open-access and free journal. We do not charge any fee under any name.

5- I have submitted a manuscript to your journal. How does the process go on now?

We clearly informed the process in the author guidelines part. Now (in 2021), we reject 70-80% of the manuscripts without starting the review process. Thus, we aim to take qualified articles to the review process and be punctual in the review process.

6- How can I contact the editorial office?

We have just one e-mail for correspondence (editorkebd@gmail.com), and we punctually give responses to e-mails. Please do not send e-mails to the personal e-mails of the editors or the members of the editorial board.

7- What kind of studies do you publish?

JTES will analyze the quality of articles at the very first step of the submission. Accordingly, the below studies will not be accepted for the review process:

- Studies that offer a descriptive review of literature,
- Descriptive studies based on the opinions of stakeholders,
- Basic metaphor studies,
- Descriptive quantitative studies using a single instrument and reporting differences in terms of some variables,

- Assessment and Measurement studies that do not focus on the scope of education (e.g., psychometric properties)

- Correlational studies on a field that has been researched to a great extent,
- Studies that are not directly related to educational sciences,
- Qualitative studies that depend too much on the positivist paradigm, i.e. quantifying the findings without exerting a thorough qualitative analysis
- Studies that are too local, that do not depend on international literature (%70 expected to be the literature in WoS or Scopus), and that are not related to international readers.

Also, we tend to reject the manuscripts of authors who have a line of publication records in predatory journals.
