Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the adequacy of the intern practice program with the self-report of nurse students within the scope of the nursing intern practice course. Method: The sample of the study consisted of 232 students studying in the fourth grade of Akdeniz University Nursing Faculty. The data were collected between April-May 2017 with the "Individual Introduction Form" and "Nightingale Intern Program Evaluation Scale". Student-t test was used in the comparison between descriptive statistics and two-category variables in the study. Ethics committee approval, institutional permission letter, and informed consent from the participants were obtained in this study. Results: The mean age of the students was 22±0.82, and 72% of them were female. 81.5% of the students suggested that the intern practice course should continue for four days during an academic semester and 66.8% of them recommended rotation between clinical areas. The students' Nightingale Intern Program Evaluation Scale total score was found to be 4.02± 0.83 (min=1-max=5). The highest score of the scale was determined as “communication with patients and their relatives” sub-dimension with 4.20 ± 0.80. It was determined that the lowest score of the scale was 3.69±0.85 in the "application area feature" sub-dimension. Conclusion: As a result of this study, students were generally satisfied with the intern application program and they found the program sufficient. Also, it was determined that the intern practice most improved the communication with the patients and their relatives, and the features of clinical areas were found to be the most negative. The importance of the quality of the clinical area in nursing intern training programs has been revealed.
