KÖTÜ MUAMELEYE MARUZ KALAN ERGENLERDE ÖZ-YETERLİK ÇALIŞMALARI: BİR SİSTEMATİK DERLEME

Abstract

Son yıllarda öz-yeterlik kavramının, çocukluk çağı kötü muamelesinin çocuklar/ergenler üzerinde neden olduğu sorunların çözümlenebilmesinde etkili bir psikoterapi enstrümanı olduğunu ortaya koyan araştırmaların sayısı gittikçe artmaktadır. Bununla birlikte literatürde, geçmişte kötü muameleye maruz kalmış olan ergenlerin öz-yeterliklerine etki eden faktörleri inceleyen çalışmaların oldukça sınırlı sayıda olması dikkat çekmektedir. Sistematik derleme metodolojisinin kullanıldığı bu çalışmanın amacı, geçmişte kötü muameleye uğramış ergenlerin öz-yeterlik düzeylerine etki eden değişkenlerin tespit edilmesidir. Çalışma kapsamında Medical Subject Headings’e uygun olarak belirlenen anahtar kelimeler, PubMed, Web of Science ve Scopus olmak üzere üç ayrı elektronik veri tabanında taranmıştır. Literatür taramasının ardından seçim kriterlerini karşılayan 15 makale bu sistematik derleme çalışmasına dahil edilmiştir. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan kod cetveli aracılığıyla çekilmiş ve öyküsel anlatı yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma bulguları; cinsel istismar, fiziksel istismar, duygusal istismar, duygusal ihmal, çocukluk çağı kötü muamelesi, cinsel istismarın şiddeti, istismarın şiddeti, romantik ilişkilerde kendini susturma stratejileri, travma sonrası stres bozukluğu semptomatolojisi, depresyon, alkol problemi, duygu düzenleme güçlüğü, algılanan stres ve içselleştirme semptomlarının öz-yeterlik üzerindeki olumsuz etkisini göstermiştir. Duygu düzenleme stratejilerinin, benlik saygısının, öfke kontrolünün, sosyal desteğin, başa çıkma becerisinin, travma odaklı bilişsel davranışsal terapi müdahalesinin ve algılanan aile desteğinin ise öz-yeterlik üzerindeki olumlu etkisini bildirmektedir. Bu sistematik derleme çalışması sonucunda; öz-yeterliğin geçmişte kötü muameleye uğramış ergenler üzerindeki koruyucu doğasına yönelik kanıtlar bulunmuştur.

Self-Efficacy Studies in Adolescents Subjected to Maltreatment: A Systematic Review

Abstract

In recent years, the number of studies showing that the concept of self-efficacy is an effective psychotherapy instrument in solving the problems caused by childhood maltreatment on children/adolescents has been increasing. However, it is noteworthy that there is a limited number of studies in the literature that specifically examine the factors affecting the self-efficacy levels of adolescents who have been exposed to maltreatment in the past. This systematic review study aims to determine the factors affecting self-efficacy in adolescents who have been exposed to maltreatment in the past. Within the scope of the study, the keywords determined by Medical Subject Headings were scanned in three different electronic databases: PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus. After the literature review, 15 articles meeting the selection criteria were included in this systematic review. The data were drawn through the code ruler created by the researchers and analyzed with the narrative method. The study findings included the factors that negatively affect self-efficacy were sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, emotional neglect, childhood maltreatment, the severity of abuse, the severity of sexual abuse, self-silencing strategies in romantic relationships, post-traumatic stress disorder symptomatology, depression, alcohol problem, emotional dysregulation, perceived stress and internalizing symptoms. The positive effects of emotion regulation strategies, self-esteem, anger control, social support, coping skills, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy intervention, and perceived family support on self-efficacy were also reported. This systematic review study concluded that there is evidence for the protective nature of self-efficacy in adolescents who have been abused in the past.
