The Turkish Adaptation of Compulsive Texting Scale for Adolescents: The Validity and Reliability Study

Year 2016, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 1 - 13, 30.12.2016

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Turkish translation of the Compulsive Texting Scale. This scale was developed by Lister-Landman, Domoff, and Dubow (2015). The Compulsive Texting Scale for adolescents was first translated into Turkish and then back translated. Subsequently, the sample composed of 335 high school students. The internal consistency was observed for reliability and second order confirmative factor analysis was carried out through the software Lisrel 8.80 regarding the validity. Factor analysis confirmed the fit of the three-factor model (Interference, Cognitive Preoccupation and Concealment) similar to the original scale (χ2=155.40, df=73, χ2/df=2,13; NFI=0,96; AGFI= 0,91; RFI= 0,96; NNFI= 0,98; GFI= 0,94; CFI=0,98; IFI= 0,98; RMSEA=0,058). The rreliability coefficient of the complete scale and sub-demission were ranged from .71 to .89. Our findings indicate that Turkish version of the Compulsive Texting Scale for Adolescents is acceptable in terms of reliability and validity for the selected samples.

Ergenler için Takıntılı Mesajlaşma Ölçeğinin Türkçe Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması

Year 2016, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 1 - 13, 30.12.2016
