Year 2023, Volume: 13 Issue: 1, 1243 - 1262, 23.03.2023

Abstract

The Effect Of Athletic Mental Energy On Psychological Skills And Attitudes Toward Soccer In Female Soccer Players

Year 2023, Volume: 13 Issue: 1, 1243 - 1262, 23.03.2023
https://doi.org/10.48146/odusobiad.1206721

Abstract

This paper aimed to determine whether female soccer players’ athletic mental energy (AME) played a mediating role between their soccer psychological skills (SPS) and attitudes toward soccer (ATS). The study developed an original theoretical model, which was tested using the Sobel test. The sample consisted of 237 female soccer players in the soccer leagues of the Turkish Football Federation 2021-2022. Data were collected using a sociodemographic characteristics questionnaire, the Soccer Psychological Skills Scale-16 (SPSS-16), the Soccer Attitude Scale (SAS-26), and the Athletic Mental Energy Scale (AMES). The results showed that ATS affected AME positively. AME affected SPS positively. ATS affected SPS positively. The results also showed that AME played a mediating role between SPS and ATS. The results confirmed the theoretical model. Authorities should inform female soccer players about AME, ATS, and SPS.
