Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge, attitude and behavior characteristics about violence against the physicians of the patients and their relatives who applied to family health centers in Zonguldak and also to evaluate the causes and solution of violence against physicians. Methods: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate patients and their relatives who applied to some of the family health centers in Zonguldak for a week. And 337 patients and their relatives who agreed to participate in the study were included. A survey form consisting of 35 questions that questioning socio-demographic data and variables that may affect opinions about violence to the physicians and their information, attitudes, and behaviors about the violence to the physicians were applied to the participants. Results: In this study; 55.1% of the participants were female and mean age was 36.9± 13.3. Men have applied more violence against physicians (p=0.001). According to the marital status, education, occupation, psychiatric drug use and whether there is a health worker in family the situation of having verbal or physical discussion with the physician does not change (p>0.05). In this study, 29.1% of the participants witnessed physical violence against physicians, 47.0% witnessed verbal violence against physicians and 62% thought that the medical profession has been discredited in recent years. Conclusion: Men have used more violence against physicians. Most of the participants think that the medical profession has been discredited in recent years. Almost half of the respondents stated that they witnessed verbal violence against physicians and about one in three witnessed physical violence against physicians. This situation reveals the extent of the problem.
Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı Zonguldak’taki aile sağlığı merkezlerine başvuran hasta ve hasta yakınlarının hekime yönelik şiddet ile ilgili bilgi, tutum ve davranış özelliklerini belirlemek ve ayrıca hekime yönelik şiddetin nedenleri ve çözümüyle ilgili düşüncelerini değerlendirmektir. Yöntem: Araştırmada bir hafta boyunca Zonguldak’taki bazı aile sağlığı merkezlerine başvuran hasta ve hasta yakınlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmış ve çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 337 hasta ve hasta yakını çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Katılımcılara sosyo-demografik veriler ve hekime şiddet ile ilgili görüşleri etkileyebilecek değişkenler ile hekime yönelik şiddet konusunda bilgi, tutum ve davranışlarını sorgulayan 35 soruluk veri formu uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların %55.1’i kadındır, yaş ortalaması 36.9± 13.3’tür. Erkekler daha fazla hekime yönelik şiddet eyleminde bulunmuştur (p=0.001). Medeni duruma, eğitim durumuna, mesleğe, psikiyatrik ilaç kullanımına ve ailede sağlık çalışanı olmasına göre hekimle sözel veya fiziksel tartışma yaşamış olma durumu değişmemektedir (p>0.05). Katılımcıların %29.1’i hekime yönelik fiziksel şiddete, %47.0’ı hekime yönelik sözel şiddete tanık olmuştur ve %62’si son yıllarda hekimlik mesleğinin itibarsızlaştırıldığını düşünmektedir. Sonuç: Erkekler daha fazla hekime yönelik şiddet eylemlerinde bulunmaktadır. Katılımcıların büyük bir kısmı hekimlik mesleğinin itibarsızlaştırıldığını düşünmektedir. Katılımcıların neredeyse yarısının hekime yönelik sözel şiddete, yaklaşık üçte birininse hekime yönelik fiziksel şiddete tanık olduklarını belirtmesi sorunun boyutunu gözler önüne sermektedir.

MEU Journal of Health Sciences Assoc was began to the publishing process in 2008 under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Gönül Aslan, Editor-in-Chief, and affiliated to Mersin University Institute of Health Sciences. In March 2015, Prof. Dr. Caferi Tayyar Şaşmaz undertook the Editor-in Chief position and since then he has been in charge.
Publishing in three issues per year (April - August - December), it is a multisectoral refereed scientific journal. In addition to research articles, scientific articles such as reviews, case reports and letters to the editor are published in the journal. Our journal, which has been published via e-mail since its inception, has been published both online and in print. Following the Participation Agreement signed with TÜBİTAK-ULAKBİM Dergi Park in April 2015, it has started to accept and evaluate online publications.
