Abstract

Psychometric Properties of the Subtypes of Antisocial Behavior Questionnaire

Year 2022, Issue: 62, 640 - 671, 01.05.2022
https://doi.org/10.21764/maeuefd.880206

Abstract

Antisocial behaviors are one of the most prevalent behavioral problems during childhood and adolescence. However, valid and reliable measurement of antisocial behaviors is hindered due to their prevalence in different contexts, heterogeneity in these behaviors, and different trajectories. Emerging evidence has shown that three dimensions of antisocial behaviors (physical aggression, rule-breaking behaviors, and relational aggression) are moderately correlated and also independent constructs. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Subtypes of Antisocial Behavior Questionnaire in young adult and adolescent samples. Two study group were used for the adaptation of the scale. Confirmatory factor analyses showed that the STAB is a valid and reliable assessment tool of antisocial behaviors for young adults (RMSEA = .072, CFI = .99, GFI = .96, NFI = .98, IFI = .99) and adolescents (RMSEA = .087, CFI = .98, GFI = .95, NFI = .97, IFI = .98). It can be concluded that the STAB is a valid and reliable assessment tool to measure antisocial behaviors of young adults and adolescents.
