Abstract
Benign paroksismal pozisyonel vertigo (BPPV), baş pozisyonundaki değişikliklerle ortaya çıkan vertigonun en yaygın nedeni olarak bilinmektedir. Temelinde yer çekimine bağlı utrikülde var olan otolit adını verdiğimiz kristallerin yarım daire kanallarına kaçması sonucu ortaya çıkar. BPPV posterior, horizontal ve anterior olmak üzere semisürküler kanalları etkilemektedir. Değerlendirilen kanallar arasında posterior ve horizontal kanal daha fazla etkilenirken anterior kanal daha az etkilenmektedir. BPPV'nin süresi, sıklığı ve semptom yoğunluğu, tutulan kanala ve otolitlerin konumuna bağlı olarak değişme gösterir. BPPV tutulan kanala özgü manevra ile tedavisi sağlanabilir. Manevralar sonuç vermezse en son düşünülmesi gereken yöntem cerrahi tedavidir. Bu derlemede BPPV’nin tanı, teşhis, tedavi yöntemleri literatürdeki bilgiler ışığında değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.
