Bu araştırmanın amacı, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin problem çözme becerileri ve bilimsel araştırmaya yönelik kaygı düzeylerini belirlemektir. Kesitsel tipte planlanan araştırmanın evrenini, 2019-2020 öğretim yılında bir hemşirelik fakültesinde öğrenimini sürdüren ve “Hemşirelikte Araştırma Süreci” derslerini almış olan (N=567) öğrenciler oluşturmuştur. Örneklem seçimi yapılmadan, araştırmaya gönüllü katılan öğrencilerden veriler toplanmıştır (n=308), evrenin %54.32’sine ulaşılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında, problem çözme becerisi konusunda bireylerin sübjektif algılarını değerlendiren “Problem Çözme Envanteri” (PÇE), araştırmaya yönelik kaygı düzeylerini ölçmek için “Araştırmaya Yönelik Kaygı” (AYK) ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin %82.5’i kadındır. Öğrencilerin %56.8’i olgu ya da durumlara eleştirel gözle bakabildiğini belirtirken, %48.4’ü kendi problem çözme becerisini “orta düzeyde” değerlendirmektedir. Öğrencilerin PÇE puan ortancası100.50’dir (min=32, maks=192). AYK ölçeği madde puan ortancası38.00’dir (min=12, maks=60).

The aim of this study is to determine the problem-solving skills and anxiety levels of nursing students towards scientific research. The population of the study, which was planned as a cross-sectional type, consisted of students (N=567) who continued their education in a nursing faculty and took the "Research Process in Nursing" courses in the 2019-2020 academic year. Data were collected from the students who voluntarily participated in the study, without making a sample selection (n=308), reaching 54.32% of the population. In data collection, the "Problem Solving Inventory" (PSI), which evaluates the subjective perceptions of individuals about problem solving skills, and the "Research-Oriented Anxiety" (ROS) scale to measure their anxiety levels towards research were used. 82.5% of the students participating in the research are women. While 56.8% of the students stated that they could look at facts or situations with a critical eye, 48.4% evaluated their problem-solving skills at "moderate" level. The median PSI score of the students is 100.50 (min=32, max=192). The median item score of the ROS scale is 38.00 (min=12, max=60). There is a moderately significant inverse relationship between the two scales (r=-0.424, p˂0.01). While students' perceptions of their problem solving skills were found to be insufficient with a score close to the general scale average, their anxiety about doing research is at a moderate level. It can be said that as students' problem solving skills increase, they worry less about doing research. Considering the fact that the quality of care in nursing practices will increase with the development of problem-solving skills of future nurse candidates during the vocational training they receive, it is recommended that training contents that will support the development of both problem-solving and research skills should be included in the nursing education curriculum in detail.
