Investigation of the hopelessness and the students the instrument successes levels of the Fine Arts High School Music Department Student

This study is made with the purpose of determining the hopelessness levels of the students of Fine Arts High School Music Department and also revealing the relation between two parameters by mutual examination of the hopelessness levels of the students with the instrument successes. The data of the research is obtained by using the 9 units of personal information form, “Beck Hopelessness Scale” developed by Beck and friends, literature scanning and the 2013-2014 education year 1st semester instrument grades of the students. The study group of the research is constituted of 92 students who are studying in Diyarbakır Fine Arts High School Music department in 2013-2014 education year. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) package program is used in processing the obtained data. During the evaluation of the data, descriptive statistical methods (Number, Percentage, Average, standard deviation) are used. Man whitney-u test is used in difference between two groups in comparison of the quantitative data, kruskall whallis test is used in inter-group comparison of the parameters in groups more than two and man whitney-u test is used in determination of the group which causes the difference. The relation between the dependent and independent parameters of the research is tested by the correlation, the effect is tested with regression analysis.
As the result of the analysis made in the result, it is observed that the students are slightly hopelessness (4,913 ± 3,585) and the average of their instrument success are in good (74,620 ± 18,130) level. The hopelessness levels of the students who do not find the instrument course hours sufficient are higher than the students who do not think that the hours are sufficient.
The instrument grades (x=80,940) of the male students are higher than the instrument grades (x=67,730) of the female students and the instrument grades of the students of 12th grade are higher than the instrument grades of the other grades. The instrument grades of the students whose wishes were efficient in choosing the personal instrument have been found as the highest instrument grades among the instrument grades. The instrument grades of the students who study 2 hours or more with in the day, have been found as higher (90,940 ± 8,410).
There is a meaningful relation in terms of statistics between the hopelessness level of the students participating the research and their instrument grade averages (r=-0.24; p=0,021<0.05). Accordingly, the more hopelessness increases, the instrument grade decreases. The regression analysis which is made for determining the relation between hopelessness and instrument grades are found as meaningful in terms of statistics. (F=4,195; p=0,043<0.05). It is observed that the hopelessness parameters and its relation (descriptive power) as the determiner of the instrument grade level, is poor. (R2=0,034). The hopelessness level of the students decreases the instrument grade. (ß=-1,067).
By considering these findings, some suggestions are made for increasing the instrument success of the students of Fine Art High School Music Department and for minimizing their hopelessness level and for making studies for the solutions by researching the current hopelessness reasons.
Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi Müzik Bölümü Öğrencilerinin Çalgı Başarıları İle Umutsuzluk Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi
Abstract
Özet Bu araştırma, Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi müzik bölümü öğrencilerinin umutsuzluk düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve ayrıca öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri ile çalgı başarılarının karşılıklı incelenerek iki değişken arasındaki ilişkinin ortaya çıkarılması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın yürütülmesinde betimsel yönteme dayalı bir desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, literatür tarama, Beck ve arkadaşları tarafından geliştirilen “Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği”, araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan 9 adet kişisel bilgi formu ve öğrencilerin 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılı 1. dönem çalgı puanları kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılında Diyarbakır Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi müzik bölümünde öğrenim gören 92 öğrenci oluşmaktadır. Elde edilen verilerin işlenmesinde SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) paket programı kullanılmıştır. Veriler değerlendirilirken tanımlayıcı istatistiksel metotları (Sayı, Yüzde, Ortalama, Standart sapma) kullanılmıştır. Nicel verilerin karşılaştırılmasında iki grup arasındaki farkı man whitney-u, ikiden fazla grup durumunda parametrelerin gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarında kruskall whallis testi ve farklılığa neden olan grbun tespitinde man whitney-u testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bağımlı ve bağımsız değişkenleri arasındaki ilişki spearman korelasyon, etki ise regresyon analizi ile test edilmiştir. Araştırmada yapılan çözümlemeler sonucunda, öğrencilerin hafif düzeyde umutsuz oldukları (4,913 ± 3,585) ve çalgı başarı ortalamalarının iyi (74,620 ± 18,130) düzeyde olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalgı ders saatlerini yeterli bulan öğrencilerin umutsuzluk puanları, yeterli bulmayan öğrencilerin puanlarından yüksek bulunmuştur. Erkek öğrencilerin çalgı puanları (x=80,940), kız öğrencilerin çalgı puanlarından (x=67,730) yüksek, 12. sınıf öğrencilerinin çalgı puanları diğer sınıfların çalgı puanlarından yüksek bulunmuştur. Bireysel çalgısı gitar olan öğrencilerin çalgı puanları ve bireysel çalgı seçiminde kendi isteği etkili olan öğrencilerin çalgı puanları en yüksek bulunmuştur. Gün içerisinde 2 saat ve üzeri çalışan öğrencilerin çalgı puanları (90,940 ± 8,410) daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri ile çalgı puanı ortalamalarına göre; umutsuzluk arttıkça çalgı puanı azalmaktadır (r=-0.24; p=0,021<0.05). Umutsuzluk ile çalgı puanları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek üzere yapılan regresyon analizi, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur (F=4,195; p=0,043<0.05). Çalgı puanı düzeyinin belirleyicisi olarak umutsuzluk değişkenleri ile ilişkisinin zayıf olduğu görülmüştür (R2=0,034). Öğrencilerin umutsuzluk düzeyi çalgı puanını azaltmaktadır (ß=-1,067). Bu bulgular göz önünde bulundurularak, Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi Müzik Bölümü öğrencilerinin çalgı başarılarının arttırılması ve umutsuzluk düzeylerinin en aza indirgenmesi, var olan umutsuzluk nedenlerinin araştırılarak, çözüm yollarının aranacağı çalışmalar yapılması hususunda önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
