Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Dinleme/İzleme Stratejileri Kullanım Sıklığı Ölçeğinin Geçerlik-Güvenirlik Çalışması // Validity-Reliability Study for The Usage Frequency Scale of Listening/Viewing Strategies in Middle School Students

Year 2017, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 64 - 81, 30.03.2017

Abstract

Validity-Reliability Study for The Usage Frequency Scale of Listening/Viewing Strategies in Middle School Students // Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Dinleme/İzleme Stratejileri Kullanım Sıklığı Ölçeğinin Geçerlik-Güvenirlik Çalışması

Year 2017, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 64 - 81, 30.03.2017

Abstract

In this study, a new scale is proposed in which usage frequency of listening and viewing strategies among the middle school students is measured. For this purpose, validity and reliability analysis of the implemented Listening/Viewing Strategies Usage Frequency Scale (LSUFS) are performed. To form the scale items, initially formed raw 41 items collected from both the local and foreign literature are reduced down to 38 questions by considering their clarity, expert opinions and results of pilot studies. Next, validity and reliability analysis of the formed 38-items scale are also performed and items those have not got enough factor loading value and those fall outside the three-factors structure are removed from the scale. The final form of the scale thus has 19 questions. According to the exploratory factor analysis, three factors explains the 47.9% of overall variance. Fix indexes obtained from the confirmatory factor analysis are also acceptable. Internal consistency coefficient value is found as .89 by the Cronbach Alpha method. Finally, it can be concluded that the LSUFS is a valid and reliable scale.
